Terms of use
Last updated: [DATE]
Plain language, because terms nobody reads protect nobody. Using ServiceTok means agreeing to these.
What ServiceTok is
ServiceTok is a free way to report municipal service problems and to find government service points. It is operated by [COMPANY NAME].
We are not your municipality and we are not part of government. We pass your report on; we cannot fix the problem, promise it will be fixed, or say when.
What we do not promise
- That a municipality will act on your report, or act quickly
- That service point details are current — phone ahead before travelling
- That the app is available without interruption
In an emergency, phone the emergency services. ServiceTok is not an emergency channel and nobody is watching it around the clock.
What you must not do
- Report something you know to be untrue
- Submit content that abuses or threatens a person
- Submit sexual content, or images of anyone that they have not agreed to
- Submit deliberately to overload a municipality or this service
- Try to gain access to accounts or data that are not yours
Reports are screened automatically, and we may refuse or remove anything that breaks these rules. If we get that wrong, you can appeal and a person will look at it.
Reports are yours
You keep ownership of what you write and photograph. By submitting, you give us permission to pass it to the relevant municipality and to store it so you can follow what happens.
If you choose to share a report publicly, you are the one publishing it. You are responsible for what you post, and you confirm that it is true as far as you know, and that any person in your photograph agreed to appear in it.
Accounts
You do not need one. If you create one, keep your phone number secure — anyone who can receive your sign-in code can use your account. Tell us if you think someone else has access.
Municipal staff accounts are subject to approval and may be withdrawn by us or by the municipality at any time.
Ending your use
Delete your data at any time from Profile in the app. We may suspend access where these terms are broken repeatedly.
Liability
ServiceTok is provided free and as-is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from using it — including a report that was not acted on, or service point details that were out of date.
Nothing here limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act or POPIA that cannot be limited by agreement.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa.
